Let’s face it… the bathroom in a Casita isn’t exactly spacious, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be comfortable. Over the years I’ve made a few simple upgrades that have made a surprising difference—from a more comfortable toilet and bidet to water-saving shower improvements and a few finishing touches that make the bathroom feel much more like home.
Here are the bathroom upgrades that have made the biggest difference in our Casita—and the ones I’d gladly install again.
🚽💦 Dometic Platinum 421 Toilet & LUXE Bidet NEO 185
In 2020, I installed the Dometic 320 elongated ceramic toilet in our Casita, and I’ve never regretted it. I’m a big guy, and the original toilet always felt like sitting on a bucket. The elongated bowl made the bathroom feel much more like home and was one of the best comfort upgrades we’ve made.
Then I decided to take it one step further.
Since I already had the toilet removed, it made perfect sense to install the LUXE Bidet NEO 185 at the same time. Looking back, that may have been the best part of the entire project. The bidet added another level of comfort that I never expected to have in a 17-foot travel trailer.
One unexpected bonus? We now use far less toilet paper than we used to. That means our black tank doesn’t fill nearly as fast, and there’s simply less waste to deal with when it’s time to dump the tank. After using a bidet for a few camping trips, I honestly wouldn’t want to go back.
Unfortunately, it appears the Dometic 320 is being phased out. If I were upgrading my Casita today, I’d choose the newer Dometic Platinum 421, which offers the same elongated porcelain bowl along with a soft-close seat and other updated features.

🚿 Acacia Wood Shower Mat
One of the simplest upgrades we’ve made to our Casita bathroom is this acacia wood shower mat. It fits perfectly in our Liberty Deluxe and instantly makes the bathroom feel warmer and more inviting.
Besides looking great, it’s also very practical. Instead of stepping onto a cold fiberglass floor, you have a solid, non-slip wooden surface that drains water well and dries quickly. It also helps keep your feet out of any water that may remain on the shower floor after use.
Unlike fabric bath mats that stay damp and need frequent washing, this wooden mat is easy to wipe clean and has held up extremely well over the years.

🚿 ETL Oxygenics BodySpa RV Handheld Shower Head
When you’re traveling with someone who enjoys long showers, a small freshwater tank can disappear in a hurry. That’s why I highly recommend the ETL Oxygenics BodySpa RV Handheld Shower Head.
This shower head uses surprisingly little water while still delivering a comfortable, full-feeling shower. It was also one of the easiest upgrades I’ve made—just unscrew the original Casita shower head and screw this one on. No special tools or plumbing experience required.
One of my favorite features is the built-in on/off button. It lets you pause the water while soaping up, helping conserve even more fresh water without constantly readjusting the faucet temperature.
One thing to know before you buy: shower heads with an on/off valve are designed to let a small amount of water continue to dribble. That’s completely normal. It allows you to quickly check the water temperature before resuming your shower and helps prevent pressure from building up in the plumbing.

💡 Road Ready Tip: This shower head does an excellent job of conserving water on its own, but if you’re really trying to stretch your freshwater supply while boondocking or camping without hookups, there’s another simple upgrade that makes it even more effective.
